Joshilyn Jackson 3.84 17,193 ratings2,846 reviews A novel of domestic suspense in which a mother must decide how far she is willing to go to protect her child and the life she loves -- a tale of power, privilege, lies, revenge, and the choices we make, ones that transform our lives in unforeseen ways. Revenge doesn't wait for permission. What terrifies her is everything she could lose if she wins. It is the beginning of an odyssey that will lead Bree to dangerous places, explosive confrontations, and chilling truths. The (rather long) blurb says it all really. This book has it all – great characters and a fabulous plot with several twists and turns. There’s a mystery to solve that adds an element of suspense. She tends to float along in life, either choosing not to make decisions, or content to let others make them for her.

In all honesty, I related a little too much to her, so I liked watching her become who she was always meant to be. I loved Nonny’s mother. She was born deaf and has lost her sight by the time the book takes place. Joshilyn is of the opinion that her writing style is somewhat Weird Fiction type and has the influence of Southern Gothic in it. As of today, Joshilyn resides in Decatur, Georgia with her loving husband named Scott, two children, and a small group of pet animals.
